Children’s Work Conference 2018
3rd and 4th March 2018
Barton Grange Hotel, Garstang Road, Preston. PR3 5AA
Sat only £36pp
The Children’s Work Conference is back for 2018, with the theme All Together Now! Over the course of the weekend we will be exploring different ways that we can all come together as a family of God to worship. Our keynote speaker will be Eleanor Bird, who has published a book with BRF on ‘Blended Church’. Drawing on her experience in Children’s Ministry, she will be challenging us to think about how we work with people of all ages, so that our churches can be truly intergenerational. In addition to Elle and our other exciting guest speakers, there will be a choice of inspirational workshops plus the option to stay over night and join us for the conference dinner and evening programme. For those that do choose to stay, you will have opportunity to use the hotel’s leisure facilities and we will be worshiping together at the local church, (Barton, St Lawrence) on the Sunday morning. This conference was oversubscribed last year so we would encourage you to book on now to secure your places.
This year you have the option to book onto our conference using our online booking forms below. Please make sure you select the correct form, depending on whether you require places for the Saturday only, or wish to stay overnight. If you have any queries please ring us on 01254 503405. See you there!
We are incredibly excited by the workshops on offer during this conference, we have some brilliant workshop leaders who are talking about some important subjects. Read about them below:
Sensory Bible Stories
For the past 10 years Lynn McCann has been involved with the Good News Group; a ministry with adults with learning disabilities at St Andrew’s Leyland. Lynn says, “We are memebers of the Additional Needs Alliance and work with organisations and charities nationwide to campaign, train and support inclusion. We are particularly interested in communication for children and young people with autism, learning disabilities and other additional needs. We love using visual communication, sensory experiences, puppets, sign language and drama. We are passionate about enabling people of all abilities to find their gifts so they can serve in God’s kingdom.” Lynn therefore won’t be delivering her session along, but with a small team from the Good News Group!
During this formative years as a cell biologist, Chris was called into the ordained ministry and now works in the Diocese of Liverpool as a Team Rector and Schools’ Minister. Chris has recently combined the two loves of his life in what he calls ‘Crazy Science’, where he tells Bible stories backed up with crazy science visual aids! The Bible stories come to life with square bubbles, energy tubes, wind bags, sound hoses and more! Minimal science knowledge needed – just add enthusiasm!
It’s a Blended World!
Elle has been in full time ministry for over 10 years and is currently the Head of Kids and Youth Ministry for St Chads Church, Romiley. Elle’s hear is that church functions as one united and Blended family, including everyone in the journey of a life-time. As part of this passion Elle wrote Blended: A Call to Reimagine our Church Family in 2015. During her workshop Elle will be exploring how we lead services, worship and teach with a blended heart to a blended audience.
