Meet the Team
We have an excellent team based at Church House who are happy to visit you, run training days and conferences and be here to help support your needs.
Director of Education
Stephen joined the team in April 2015 and has a wide range of experience in the teaching profession, the majority within the Diocese of Blackburn. He is very excited about his new role and is looking forward to meeting and working with all those involved with our schools and parishes across the Diocese.
Senior Adviser to Schools
Lisa worked as a primary schools teacher before joining the Diocesan team in 1998. She creates RE syllabuses, works closely with other Dioceses, writes resources, she’s the SIAMS manager and is a national speaker. Her interest is in the spiritual development of children enabling them to flourish in all aspects of life and through the curriculum.
Adviser to High Schools and Academies
Helen joined the Diocesan team in 2005 having worked as a Middle and High Schools teacher. She has a special interest in Church School ethos and distinctiveness, and Pastoral Theology. As well as working closely with other Dioceses and being a mentor on the Christian Leadership Course, Helen currently represents the Diocese on 3 SACRE groups. She has led work to develop the Christian Service Awards and RE material for KS3, as well as developing Spirituality Day and Collective Worship Resources.
Deputy Director of Education
Sam joined the team in April 2016 and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and skill to the role. Previously he worked at the University of Cumbria in Strategic Planning, Policy and Performance, and played a central role in creating the University. Sam was also the Chair of the Association of Managers in Higher Education, as well as a seven years as a primary school governor, and he is part of the Ministry team of St James’ Clitheroe having been a Licensed Reader for three years.
